Abstract

648,426. Tubular lamp fittings. WEMBLEY ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES, Ltd., and ROBERTSON, J. C. May 7, 1948, No. 12662. [Class75(iv)] A tubular-lamp fitting comprises a flat plate member 12, Fig. 1, flanged along its side edges 13 to form a wiring channel and carrying lampholders 18, and a box-like cover 25, Fig. 2, enclosing the member 12 having slots 34 in its bottom for the projection therethrough of the lampholders 18. As shown the lampholders 18 are supported on the underside of shelves 16 formed by bending each end of the plate member 12, which may be sheet-metal, into the shape of an L, each shelf being supported towards its free end by a strut 17 welded to the plate member. Extensions 27 of the end walls 26 of the box 25 abut against the outer faces of the lampholders 18 and serve as supports therefor. A separate concave reflector (not shown) may be fitted to the underside of the box 25, or the box itself may serve as a reflector. When fluorescent discharge lamps are employed, a starting switch 23 is supported by the member 12 to project through an aperture 32 in the bottom of the cover 25.
