[Class 75 (iv)] A ceiling fitting for mounting tubular fluorescent lamps comprises cast end housings a for the lamp sockets and auxiliary control gear having flanges a<2> connected by an opentopped channel c in which the leads are laid. The housings a are provided with brackets or clips b for supporting the lampholders, suppressor choke, starter switch, terminal block, &c., and carry hinged sheet metal covers d having beaded edges d<1> engaging recesses in the flanges a<2>. The housings a are formed with lugs for attachment to a ceiling or end wall.
