Abstract

585,283. Electric light fittings. THORPE, Ltd., F. W., and THORPE, F. W. Feb. 13, 1945, No. 3627. [Class 75 (iv)] An electric light fitting for fluorescent tubular lamps comprises a hollow box-like support 1 suspended by conduits 6 from the ceiling and containing a choke 2, condenser 3, starting switch 4, or other control gear, a sheet metal member 8 having depending slotted holders 12 for supporting the tubular lamp 14 and boxes 15 at its ends, and a trough reflector 21 having slots 24 at its ends for the passage of the holders 12 and spaced anchorages 23 by which the member 8 can be removably secured by resilient fastenings to the reflector and spaced hooks 22 by which the reflector can be removably secured to the support 1 by coupling mechanisms 7 such as are described in Specification 573,781. The support 1 is fitted at one end with a socket 4 having leads connected to the control gear and adapted to engage a plug 6 arranged in one of the boxes 15 on the member 8. The sides of the member 8 are beaded to enclose leads connected to the terminals of the lamp holders 12. The construction enables the reflector to be detached for washing without endangering the electric equipment.
