Abstract

581,959. Mounting tubular lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and EDINBOROUGH, E. R. April 20, 1945, No. 9981: [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] [Also in Group XIV] For supporting rectangular device 5, which may be a lighting fitting or a holder for the control gear of a tubular fluorescent lamp, a rectangular support 1, 2 and the device 5 are provided with a pair of channel-shaped rims 4, 6 which interengage and are so arranged that movement of the device 5 transversely of the rims enables the edge of one rim 6 to clear the adjacent rim 4 of the support, whereafter a swinging movement of the device can take.place and the device and the support can be separated. The rectangular support, which is adapted to be secured to a wall or ceiling, may comprise the parallel strips 1, 2, joined by cross-pieces 3 and having outwardly extending rims 4, as shown, to engage with the inwardly extending rims 6 of the device, or the support may have rims which extend inwardly while the rims of. the devices extend .outwardly to engage those of the support. To provide a wedging action when the device 5 is in position; the edges of the rims 4 may be splayed outwardly while those of the rims 6 are splayed inwardly.
