Abstract

802,205. Ceiling coverings. HARRIS & SHELDON (ELECTRICAL), Ltd. Oct. 20, 1955 [Oct. 28, 1954], No. 31097/54. Class 20(4) [Also in Group XXV] A light-diffuser composed of a plurality of cellular units 2, Fig. 1, is suspended from a ceiling or other support by means of a device 1 formed from a single sheet metal blank and having a carrier portion 8 and four bent-down strips 9 which form hooks 10 engaging projections on the units 2. As shown each unit 2 is moulded from plastic and has cells 3, the four corners of each unit having an integral L-shaped flange 6 with depending rib 7. In assembling, the units are pushed upwardly against the flared extensions 12 of device 1 until the hooks snap engage the flanges 6 and ribs 7. The carrier portion 8 is screwed at 13 to a bracket 14 carried by a suspension rod 15, and clamped thereto by a screw 17. A similar bracket 18 is clamped at 19 to the upper end of rod 15 and is screwed to the ceiling of other support. In a modification, Fig. 6, the carrier portion 8 is screwed at 13 to an angle bracket 21 secured to a wall 20, only two strips 9 being provided. A plurality of units 2 may be connected together as described in Specification 802,204, the resulting blocks of units being suspended by the devices 1.
