Abstract

915,653. Electric light fittings. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 18, 1960 [March 23, 1959], No. 9693/60. Classes 75 (3) and 75 (4). A lighting fitting, especially for electric discharge lamps, comprises a base 1 supporting one or more lamp holders 12, 13 hinged to the base and having hinged end walls 6, 7 for supporting a transparent body enclosing the lamps, the side walls of the body forming the lateral walls of the fitting, so that the end walls 6, 7 and the lampholders 12, 13 can be folded towards the base 1 for ease of transport. The base 1 may carry a removable starter equipment 2 and may be supported by a suspension tube 3. The transparent body may be U-shaped in section and slightly flexible so that it can be nested for transport. The end walls may have inwardly directed edges or be formed with grooves to engage the enclosing body and may be urged inwards by springs 8, 9.
