Abstract

427,835. Suspended electric lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and RANDALL, E. L., Magnet House, Kingsway, London. Jan. 19, 1934, No. 1998. [Class 75 (iii)] [See also Group XXXVI] An electric - lamp pendant comprises a fitting provided with one or more ducts for draining off liquid condensing within the suspension tube away from the terminals of the lamp-holder or other parts liable to be affected by moisture. In one form, an insulating body 1 is formed with a drainage duct 4 and a curved duct 2 through which the leads pass to a lamp-holder 10, a flanged tube 15 being screwed on the suspension tube so as to secure in position a flanged tube 14 screwed into a cast iron collar 13 fixed to the body. In a second form a cast iron body 24 is formed with drainage ducts 17 and tubes 18 leading to a junction box provided with a detachable cover plate 26. The leads are connected by screws 31 to brass blocks 30, the lamp wires being soldered to ridges 32. A threaded socket 19 for attaching to the suspension tube is secured by screws 21 to the upper end 20 and the lantern is screwed in the lower end 22 and secured by a set screw 23. The body 24 may be provided with a cover plate on either side giving access to a double connecting block for use as with a discharge lamp and an auxiliary incandescent lamp.
