Abstract
502,608. Lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and HUBBOLD, S. Sept. 14, 1937, No. 25004. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] In a pendant electric light fitting for use with a bayonet or screw-capped lamp fed through one or more chokes or transformers, such as a high pressure mercury vapour lamp, a liquidtight housing 1 for the chokes or transformers forms, or has secured directly thereto, a gallery for a globe, shade, or reflector, or forms part of a reflector or shade, and comprises at its upper end an entry for wiring purposes and, at its lower end, an outlet 8 sealed by the lampholder 9 secured therein, and the chokes or transformers and the lamp-holder terminals are embedded in wax or the like insulating material. In the form shown, a flanged disc 3, screwed in the top of the housing, is provided with a threaded collar 4 for attachment to a conduit 5 carrying a slidable dust cover 6. The gallery is detachably secured to the lower end of the housing by means of screws 16 engaging in blind holes in metal blocks 17 so that it can be changed to suit the particular shade orreflector 14 or globe 15. Alternatively, the gallery may be secured as by lugs to the side of the housing.
