Abstract
A ceiling rose has a flat base so that water does not collect in the middle, drip holes around the outside to allow water to drain away, and an inverted funnel around the flex outlet to divert water to the side. There is also a screw-on cover cap to cover the terminals, and division barriers between the terminals. The wires to the terminals are directed under cable hooks to provide a drip curve for any water. This keeps water away from the terminals in the event of it leaking into the ceiling rose.
Description
WATER-SAFE BATTEN HOLDER
Water penetration in hghts can happen when there is a leak from above. This will help drain and keep water away from Electrical Terminals, Material of manufacture should be heat resistant plastic.
If water gets into the inside of Batten Holder, holes in the cover (appox 5mm) will allow water to drain away. These should be around the arcumference so water drips are furthest away from light bulb in the centre.
If it is flat or concave water will not collect in the middle as with convex covers.
If there is a raised centre, approximately 2cm, housing electrical terminals, water will not submerge centre but flow to either side (to drip holes), thus avoiding electrical terminals. Note for extra safety a rubber gasket should be fitted to seal centre housing and cover plate joint to avoid water dripping onto light bulb.
A division barrier (approx 5mm) between electrical terminals should be part of plastic moulding, to hinder water crossing between electrical terminals.
Cable Hooks positioned on either side of the raised center (two, one for each cable or flex) should be incorporated into moulding. When used this will form a drip curve in the cable used.
A Centre Cover can also be used. A separate piece in the form of a dome, secured to Raised Centre (either clip on or screw on) this will help keep water away from electrical terminals.
Thus avoiding electrical arcin, reducing fire risk and reducing the chance of electric shock.

If there is a water leak from above instead of Batten Holder filling up with water it will drain away. 2.

1 Drip holes in cover so as water can escapeS
2 Raised center so water does not submerge center and electrical terminals,
3 Flat of concave cover so as water does not collect in the middle but moves towards drip holes around circumference.
4 Division barrier between electrical terminals so it is difficult for water to cross between terminals.
Cable Hooks on raised center to create drip curve in cables.
6 Cover Cap to cover electrical terminals.
