Abstract

523,925. Mounting lamp-globes &c. suspending electric lamps from ceilings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and BURBRIDGE, A. J. Jan. 17, 1939, No. 1640. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iii)] In a pendant globe, shade, or reflector support comprising inner and outer parts 1, 6 between which the globe 2, shade, or reflector is clamped in the vicinity of an aperture therein, the outer part 6 has an extension tube 10 closely surrounding part of the suspension means, e.g., the tube 3, the tube 10 being open to the atmosphere at the top but closed to the interior of the globe, shade or reflector, and being of such size that it can be readily grasped in the hand. The tube 10 is not directly heated by convection currents from the lamp bulb, and so is cool enough to nold when the part 6 is being moved. In one form, the collar 7 is clamped to the tube 3 by a set screw. A ceiling bracket 11 supports the tube 3, which passes through a hole in the bracket and is belled out or splayed. A cover 12 is clamped to the tube 3.
