Abstract

485,366. Lanterns fitted with different illuminants. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 16, 1937, No. 31519. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1936. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] In a lantern which encloses a metal vapour electric discharge lamp 5 and one or more incandescent filament electric lamps 6, the choke 2 for the lamp 5 is housed in a separate casing 1 rigidly connected to the main casing 4 by a tube 7. Fig. 3 shows a construction in which the main casing 4 includes a metal cap 8 in which is disposed the holder 9 for the lamp 5 and to which is attached a flanged tube 10 serving to support a frosted glass shade 12 and carrying holders 13 for the lamps 6 and struts 14 for supporting a reflector 15. The latter is preferably of aluminium and is fitted with a central flashed opal glass 18 and an inner annular enamelled reflector 16 which is provided with gripping devices 17 to enable it to be adjusted in position.
