Abstract

411,929. Lampshade holders. CHIBA, K., 10, York Place, Strand, London. Oct. 25, 1933, No. 30016/32. [Class 75 (ii).] A lampshade support comprises a spider 11 attachable to the light source and provided with radially extending arms bent inwardly downwards at 12 and then substantially radially at 13, one or more of the arms having a fixed part and a separate outwardly spring-pressed movable part 12<a>. The part 12<a> is located by a projection pressed out of it and engaging in a slot formed by pressing down a part of the material of the fixed part of the arm, which acts as an abutment for the spiral spring. A flat leaf spring may be used. The spider arms may be stepped to engage shades of various sizes. The spider is carried by legs 9 attached to a ring 10 which is usually secured to the lamp-bulb holder. In the case of a hanging lamp the legs 9 may be radial or bent inwardly and upwardly so as to pass through the centre of the spider. The legs 9 are preferably springy and may be made adjustable in length by provision of threaded portions and nuts. When the support is used with a candlestick, a spring clip engages the latter or the candle. When the support is used with a gas burner, it may be integral with or secured to the burner.
