Abstract

648,212. Furniture joints. WHITFIELDS BEDSTEADS, Ltd., and ADAMS, E. Dec. 17, 1948, No. 32747. [Class 52 (ii)] In bedsteads in which the head or foot end is removable from the legs the interconnecting joint comprises a spigot and socket with interposed resilient members. The tubular side members A<SP>1</SP> of the head &c. end is provided with a spigot member C with interposed resilient members D for connection to the tubular socket members or legs B. As shown the upper ends of the resilient members D are welded to the inner surface of the members A<SP>1</SP> which the lower ends are welded to the lower ends of the spigots C at E, the latter not being connected otherwise to the members A<SP>1</SP>. The lower ends of the members D are tapered as shown at F.
