Abstract
376,020. Pipe joints. BURMEISTER, J. H. G., 3, Gerhofstrasse, Hamburg, Germany. July 13, 1931, No. 20091. Addition to 364,729. [Class 99 (i).] In a pipe joint according to the parent Specification packing rings q of rubber, hemp, &c. are inserted between the ends of the flexible sleeve d and the bottom of the annular recess e. The conical or frusto-conical bottom r of the recess is more steeply tapered than the face c. In another form the packing q is located between an inclined face t, Fig. 5, at the bottom of the recess and a face u of opposite inclination at the end of the sleeve d. The recess e may be wider at the base than at the mouth and its side faces may be roughened or grooved.
