644,974. Supply arrangements for hotwater boilers. JACKSON BOILERS, Ltd., and MUSTILL C. W. Sept. 21, 1948, No. 24653. '[Class 64(i)] A self - feeding water heater, e.g. for use on a ship, has a feed tank divided by a baffle 10 into two compartments 3, 4, the main compartment 3 in which the ball 6 of the ball tap is housed and operates, and a shallow, inclinedbottomed compartment 4 in which is mounted the ball-controlled tap 8, one or more communicating passages being arranged between the main and secondary compartments. The object is to prevent flooding of the feed tank if its water level rises and falls due to movements of the ship. The ball tap 8 feeds into a pipe 12 leading to the bottom of the compartment 3. The baffle 10 has a vertical slot for the arm 7 to which the ball 6 in attached. Water entering the compartment 4 through the slot returns to the compartment 3 through a pipe 13. The area of water surface in the compartment 3 is small in proportion to its volume.
