[Class 81 (ii)] [Also in Group XXI] A respiratory appliance for use in the water comprises an air intake valve 11 normally maintained above water level by means of a buoy 15 rigidly mounted on the stem 10 of the valve, the valve being connected to a face mask 23 by means of a flexible tube 12. A float 18 is slidably mounted between the valve and the buoy, so that when the valve becomes submerged it is closed by the float. The face mask 23 is provided with a liquid container 28 and a waterproof bag 24 containing food pellets.
