457,327. Heating water. SNELL, C. SCOTT-, East Prawle, Salcombe, Devon, and C.S.S., Ltd., Columbia House, Aldwych, London. May 21, 1935, Nos. 14798 and 18281. [Class 64 (i)] A water heater is divided into compartments 3, 4 by a partition 5 having a central opening 6 surmounted by a steam dome 8 carrying a smalltube 10 through which water can flow from the upper to the lower compartment. A stand pipe 9 extends to the top of the upper compartment, above the water level therein, and depends into the lower compartment to define the water level therein. The tube 10 may be replaced by a groove made between surfaces of the dome 8 and a coaming 7 over which the dome fits. The stand pipe and dome may be connected integrally to facilitate withdrawal to enable the lower compartment to be cleaned ; or the dome may be replaced by a screwed down water-tight cover for this purpose.
