[Class 81 (i ).] In a boiler for extracting, wherein the washing liquid is driven when heated from a lower chamber 7 through channels 8 to the top of an upper chamber 2 containing the raw material, the chambers being separated by a partition 4 with a valve-controlled outlet 12 for the washing liquid so that vapour formed in the lower chamber cannot enter the channels 8 until liquid in the lower chamber has fallen to the level of a liquid seal 6 formed by the lower edge of the chamber 7, there is provided at least one outlet 21 for steam and air, preferably with a float valve control 24. The pipe 21 may be covered by a cap 23. The outlet 21 may be replaced by small holes 32 in the sides of the chamber 7, through which steam escapes when the liquid enters by an outlet 12 with a float 11. The channels 8 are formed between an outer container 1 and the chambers 2, 7, which stand therein on legs 4<1> and are secured by rotatable arms 14 engaging studs or moving over an indented cam to engage a groove in the container 1. In a modification, the channels 8 are formed by tubes leading through the partition 4 and forming the liquid seal, and there is no outer container. Steam passes by a pipe 22 into a cap 30 containing water and having a valve 31. The chambers are emptied through a hinged pipe 29.
