Abstract

643,414. Valve guides. BIRMINGHAM SMALL -ARMS CO., Ltd., DAVIES, D. J., and AMOTT, J. H. April 2, 1948, No. 9281. [Class 7 (ii)] A valve guide is made in two parts, a main part 1, formed of an alloy having good wearing and heat conductivity properties, and a part 13, which projects into the gas passage to act as a shroud, formed of a heat-resisting steel or alloy. The parts may be threaded together or have an interference fit, and the part 13 is set back at 19 away from the valve stem to reduce the transfer of heat which transfer may be further reduced by an annular space in the part 13.
