[Class 117] The side frames a which carry the screening or consolidating surface of vibratory apparatus for screening or consolidating materials are supported and uniformly oscillated by plate d fixed perpendicularly on a pair of transverse shafts e, e<SP>1</SP> journalled in bearings p, q in stationary side members b and one of which is oscil-- lated about its axis by power-driven mechanism, e.g., through rod j pivoted in bearings m fixed on the shaft e<SP>1</SP>. The side frames a are preferably adjustably connected to the plates d as by bolts s passing through a flexible bearing in one of a series of holes r in plates d angularly spaced about the shafts e, e<SP>1</SP> so that the direction of vibrations can be varied. The shafts e, e<SP>1</SP> vibrate in unison by means of link g coupled to plates d. The ends of the shafts e, e<SP>1</SP> are mounted in or provided with stub-axles e<SP>2</SP> mounted in flexible bearings in housings p, attached to the stationary side members b of the apparatus. The transverse tubular shafts e, e<SP>1</SP> may be dispensed with and the driving rod j may be applied to other suitable rigid connecting means between one of the pairs of aligned stub-axles e<SP>2</SP>.
