Abstract
642,847. Spinning rayon. COURTAULDS, Ltd. (Industrial Rayon Corporation). May 25, 1948, No. 14078. [Class 120(ii)] [Also in Group XXIV] In a continuous rayon spinning machine comprising two or more series of threadadvancing reels 20 arranged stepwise, with individual shafts 22 for driving each series but all driven from a common driving shaft 10, each shaft 22 is clutched to a stub shaft 23, geared to the shaft 10, by discs 28 having circumferential lugs 31 engageable with slots 27 in a cylindrical member 26 secured to the shaft 23, the end faces 33 of the member 26, between the slots, being slightly chamfered so as to guide the lugs into the slots. The discs encircle a sleeve 25 splined on the shaft 22 and are frictionally locked to the sleeve, after engagement of the lugs with the slots, by a collar 29 slidable on the sleeve 25 under the control of a lever 42. The stub shaft 23 is carried by a sleeve 37 secured by set screws in a sleeve 40 secured to the frame, so as to afford easy removal of the shaft. U.S.A.
