642,509. Doors for road vehicles. ALLMAN, R. E. Oct. 1, 1948, No. 25579. [Class 108 (i) ] [Also in Group X] Doors. particularly those at the rear of commercial vans &c. are hinged at or adjacent their upper and lower edges by hinged members 2 fitted to the doors away from their normal hinged vertical edges E and which turn about pivots 5 disposed inside the door opening. Several arrangements are described; in that shown, for example, the hinge members 4 are secured about a quarter of the width of the door away from its normal hinged edge, and the pivot 5 is positioned so that when the door is closed it lies flush with the end-of the van; when open each door thus lies half within and half outside the van.
