Abstract
641,049. Heating vehicles. AUSTIN MOTOR CO., Ltd., WEAVING, J. H., MOGFORD, R. D., and APPLEBY, W V. June 30. 1948. No. 17504. [Class 64(ii)] The invention relates to vehicle heating systems in which hot water from the cylinder-jacket is circulated through a heater 8 by a pump 6 which circulates water through the usual radiator 3 and in which the connection to the top of the radiator is fitted with a thermostaticallycontrolled valve 4 which, when the water is cool, cuts out the flow to the radiator, there being no bye-pass from the valve housing to the pump. According to the invention, the connections 7, 9 to the inlet and outlet of the heater 8 are controlled by a valve 10 or valves which allow water from the cylinder head jacket to the pump 6 to pass through the heater when positioned as shown or to bye-pass the heater as well as the radiator.
