Abstract

1,086,694. Arrangement of radiators; cooling engines. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. Oct. 15, 1965 [Oct. 16, 1964], No. 43878/65. Heading B7H. [Also in Division F4] The cooling liquid from a motor vehicle engine 1 passes through a radiator 5 disposed substantially horizontally adjacent to the passenger compartment. Above the radiator 5 is a chamber 4 to which air may pass through a grid at the top of the chamber or from the front of the vehicle through a pipe 8, and in which is located a fan 6 driven by an electric motor 7. The passage of cold or warm air into the passenger space or out of the vehicle is regulated by dampers 10, 11, 13, 14, 15 and 17 and a distributing chamber 12, above which is located a defrosting pipe 16. One or both of the dampers 10 and 11 controlling the flow of air out of the vehicle may be thermostaticallycontrolled. The electric motor 7 may be controlled manually or by a thermostat located in the engine cooling liquid.
