Abstract

640,690. Transformers. VACKAR, J., and KLIKA, V. Jan. 19, 1948, No. 1631. Convention date, Jan. 21, 1946. [Class 38 (ii)] In order to eliminate higher frequency distortion in high output class B audio amplifiers, a push-pull transformer has two primary windings which are so arranged relatively to the secondary that the mutual coupling of the primary windings is tighter than that of the primary and secondary windings. Fig. 3 shows a shell-type transformer having a secondary winding S at each side of which are arranged section windings P1, P2 of the primary windings. Fig. 4 shows a core-type transformer carrying cylindrically formed windings. The secondary S is concentric with and midway between the primary sections P1, P2. In a modified arrangement, a core or shell-type transformer has the primary sections arranged on one side of the secondary and each primary may comprise more than one pair of sections. Preferably, the transformer is filled with oil having a lower dielectric constant than transformer oil and there is connected across the loading resistance of the secondary side a condenser the reactance of which at the highest frequency to be transmitted is equal to the said resistance.
