Abstract

640,064. Electrodeposition of tin. CARNEGIE-ILLINOIS STEEL CORPORATION. Jan. 6, 1948, No. 424. Convention date. Aug. 27, 1947. [Class 41] An electrolytic tin-plating bath contains an addition agent consisting of a polymerized reaction product of aniline or toluidine with acetone or methyl ethyl ketone. Examples of such agents are 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline, 2,2,4,7 - tetramethyl - 1,2 - dihydroquinoline, 2 - methyl - 2,4 - diethyl - 1,2 - dihydroquinoline, and 2,7-dimethyl-2,4-diethyl- 1,2-dihydroquinoline. The bath may contain from .2 .to 7.0 grams per litre of the addition agent added to an aqueous solution of a stannous salt and one or more of the following : phenolsulphonic acid, phenolsulphonic acid and a phenol, sulphonic acid, hydrofluoric acid and boric acid.
