Abstract
684,468. Electro-deposition of tin. UNITED STATES STEEL CO. July 24, 1951 [Jan. 12, 1951], No. 17521/51. Class 41. An electrolytic tin-plating bath consists of an aqueous acid solution of 10 to 80 grams per litre of tin in the form of a stannous phenolsulphate, benzene meta-disulphonate, or sulphate, and the reaction product of an amine with formaldehyde, the amine being present in a concentration of 2 to 6 grams per litre and being a primary aromatic amine having an amino group attached to one position on a benzene ring and hydrogen, halogen or alkyl attached to the other positions, the formaldehyde being present in an amount of 1 to 3 mols. per mole. of amine, said solution having a total free acid content expressed as the sulphuric acid equivalent of 20 to 50 grams per litre. The amine may consist of aniline, toluidine, xylidine or chloraniline.
