Abstract
1,156,526. Zinc plating baths. PERNIX ENTHONE. Aug. 4, 1966 [Aug. 5, 1965], No.35081/66. Heading C7B. An alkaline zinc cyanide plating bath composition e.g. comprising Zn(CN) 2 , NaCN and NaOH, contains in solution, e.g. in the amount 0À03-0À75 g/l, a polyethylenimine to brighten the Zn electrodeposited e.g. on steel or copper. Preferably the polyethylenimine has a structure made up of 5 to 300 repeating units of the formula:- -(R 1 R 3 C-R 2 R 4 C-NR 5 )- wherein R 1 -R 5 are each selected from H, C 1-4 alkyl radicals, and substitution derivatives thereof wherein one or more alkyl hydrogens are substituted by a bath-compatible group such as -OH, -COOH, esterified-COOH, -CHO, -COCH 3 , =CO, -NH 2 or ether.
