Abstract
633,966. Centrifugal machines. CASAGRANDE, A. Aug. 5, 1947, No. 21288. Convention date, Aug. 9, 1946. [Class 23] In a machine for treating sugar crystals which comprises a rotary conical screen 28 and a vaned rotor 10 rotating at a different speed, liquids or steam are led to cavities in the rotor and are sprayed on to the materials through nozzles 33. The two cavities shown are supplied by nested pipes 20, 22 which are provided with valves outside the machine. Each pipe is sealed to the corresponding cover 12, 14, by means of a collar 29 on the pipe and a ring 30 carried by a bellows capsule 31 secured to the cover. The perforations in the screen 28 decrease in size progressively from the top. Specification 632,252 is referred to.
