Abstract

575,501. Centrifugal machines. VAUDIN, A. H. Aug. 17, 1944, No. 15760. [Class 23] In a separator having a rotary foraminous basket 1 for separating molasses or syrup from the crystals of sugar, a scoop 4 is arranged to draw off the inner layer of molasses from the layer of crystals formed on the wall of the basket. Other molasses passes through the basket in the normal way. A flanged screen 13 is provided. A spring 10 keeps the outlet pipe 6 under strain, so that the scoop bears on the crystal layer. The lip of the scoop is rounded.
