Convention date, May 18, 1946 [Class 64(iii)] [Also in Group II] A machine for preparing chocolate &c. prior to moulding comprises two concentric cylinders 1, 2 between which rollers 3 are mounted for planetary motion. The outer cylinder 1 is stationary whilst the inner 2 is rotated, gear teeth on the cylinders and rollers 3 co-acting to rotate the rollers so that as the chocolate &c. moves through the machine between the cylinders 1, 2 it is squeezed against them across the main direction of. movement of the mass. The cylinders 1, 2 are jacketed to pass a cooling liquid along a spiral path in the jacket formed by a spiral ridge 13. The chocolate &c. mass is fed to the machine through inlet 16 by means of a gear pump from where it is pressed through holes in the end wall 10 into the annular space between the cylinders 1, 2. The prepared mass is fed out of the machine through the outlet 19.
