629,185. Valves actuated indirectly by coupling-devices. BRAITHWAITE & CO. ENGINEERS, Ltd., and CLEMMITT, T. L. March 6, 1947, No. 6339. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a coupling, e.g. for connecting pneumatic tools to a compressed-air duct 1, one part of the coupling has a wall 2 backed by a flexible lining-sheet 6, e.g., of rubber, which is slit at 7 to provide a flap 8 for sealing an orifice 3 in the wall, the flap being opened when the other part of the coupling, shown as a nozzle 4, is pushed into the orifice. A number of nozzles may be connected to the duct 1, a nozzle-socket 11 accommodating cup-leather packing-rings 15 being provided opposite each orifice 3, and each nozzle having a bayonet-slot or screwed connection with its socket. Flaps 20 on a sleeve 19 inside each nozzle 4 normally seal inlets 17, the sleeve being double-ended so as to be reversible.
