Abstract

627,447. Locking nuts. MUNDELL, F. May 28, 1947, No. 14158. [Class 89 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] An adapter for converting existing hydrants to standardised stand-pipes is formed as a nut a<SP>1</SP> at one end screwing on the hydrant, the nut being slotted at a<SP>3</SP> and provided with a screw a4 to draw the sides of the slot together for locking the adapter to the hydrant. A resilient packing washer a<SP>5</SP> limits the extent of the locking action. In a modification the adapter is held in place by a nut screwing on its outside and provided with arms engaging claws on the hydrant, the nut being locked by the means a<SP>3</SP>- a<SP>4</SP> described above.
