[Class 57] [Also in Groups XXVII and XXVIII] In a fuel-injection system, fuel is supplied by a gear pump to a fuel-injection pump which distributes the fuel to the various engine cylinders. The gear pump supplies fuel to a chamber 59 and fuel flows to the injection pump chamber 24 through a needle valve 30 attached to a spring-pressed diaphragm 58 and controlled by a centrifugal governor 3 driven from the shaft 8. The fingers 49 of the governor weights 47 move a sleeve 50 contacting the forked end of a lever 52 resiliently connected to a lever 53 actuating the valve 30. Manual control of the fuel is effected through a lever varying the tension of a spring 55 acting at the pivot of lever 52, and rotation of the lug 56 by another lever rotates the lever 52 to cut off the fuel. An adjustable leafspring 66 acts on lever 53 to provide a slowrunning adjustment.
