Abstract

626,681. Heating water by passage of current. McDONALD, J., and G. W. B. ELECTRIC FURNACES, Ltd. Dec. 20, 1946, No. 37555. [Class 39(iii)] [Also in Group XIII] A water heating installation comprises an electric water heater 1, a tank 3 from which water is delivered to the heater 1 by a pump 2, the heater 1, pump 2, tank 3 and control means 4, 5 for the heater and pump respectively being enclosed in a common casing 6. Cold water is delivered to the tank, and hot water or steam is remitted by the pipe 10. The heater 1 is an electrode boiler, of cylindrical form and is partly embraced by the tank 3, which it preheats, both heater 1 and tank 3 being suitably lagged. A pressure-actuated valve 4 shuts off the supply of water to the heater 1 upon a predetermined pressure being attained in the heater 1.
