Abstract

588,152. Hand irons. SIMONS, A. J. Nov. 15, 1944, No. 22584. [Class 138 (ii)] A steaming-iron assembly comprises a boiler 6, with an electric or other heater controlled by a pressure switch 14, and connected through a condensate trap 19 to an outlet valve 24 overlying a work table 27. The boiler feed-pump 28 is secured to a table leg, and a control pedal 39 operates the valve through linkage 37, 36, 35. A needle valve 24a controls the amount of steam delivered to the iron which is connected by a flexible tube 40 with the valve 24. A fuse plug 15A is mounted on the boiler, and breaks the heater circuit when the water level falls too low. The iron is electrically heated and supplied by a cable 42 clipped to the steam tube 40 and a bracket 25 on the pipe 23 carrying the valve 24. The boiler with its associated parts is shown secured to the table by a flange plate 26 on the return pipe 21 from the trap 19 to the boiler. It may, alternatively, be mounted on a suitable stand.
