Abstract

626,159. Spray producers. TRIGGS, W. W. (Homestead Valve Manufacturing Co.). March 19, 1947, No. 7609. [Class 69 (iii)] A method of producing a spray having a core of liquid slugs, for greater erosive effect in cleaning surfaces at a distance from the nozzle, consists in discharging a spray mixture of a liquid and the vapour of a liquid (e.g. steam and water) into the centre of a liquid stream and subsequently discharging both together. A mixture of a liquid and the vapour of a liquid is conveyed by a pipe 15 to an outwardly flared nozzle 10 from which it is projected into the centre of a stream of liquid conveyed by a pipe 8 into the annular space 12. The spray having a core of liquid slugs is then discharged from. the outer nozzle 1. Specification 626,158, which describes a similar nozzle, but without the water pipe 8, is referred to.
