Abstract

626,146. Tools for fitting or removing cotter pins &c. CRISTINA, G. Jan. 21, 1947, No. 1877. [Class 61(iii)] A device for removing or replacing cotters, keys, wedges, pins, rivets, &c. comprises a body 1 having two aligned bored bosses 2, 3 in which are mounted respectively, a screw plunger 4 with end recess 11 adapted to receive one end of the cotter pin &c. to be removed or inserted and a combined plunger 6 and spring urged projecting socket 8 adapted to receive the other end of the cotter pin and actuated by a cam lever 16 and pivoted lever 15, the removal &c. of the cotter &c. being effected by manipulating the cam lever or screw plunger or both. Added fitments for removal &c. of chain rivets comprise a chain support, Fig. 4, including a body 22, spring fork 24 to fix it to the body 1, recess 26 to fit the socket 8 and a concave ledge 28 to support the chain link of the rivet to be removed, and a cylindrical punch member, Fig. 2, including a body 17 either end of which fits into the recess 11 in the screw plunger 4, a punch 19 on one end of the body 17 for removal of a chain rivet and a recess 20 at the other end of the body 17 for driving in and heading up a rivet.
