Abstract

1375103 Riveting CHICAGO PNEUMATIC TOOLCO 20 Jan 1972 [8 March 1971] 42450/72 Divided out of 1375102 Heading B3U A nut running and crimping tool as described in Specification 1,375,102 is characterized by a nut crimping mechanism comprising a plurality of crimping jaws 68 mounted around the axis of a sleeve 57, each jaw having a fulcrum point 73 and an inner wall provided with a cam surface 70 at its upper end and a crimping surface 75 at its lower end, means, e.g. a downwardly spring biased plunger 76 having a flange 79 co-operating with lugs 82 on each of the jaws, for constantly urging the levers about their fulcrum points to swing the crimping surfaces away from the sleeve axis to define an opening for receipt of a nut 29, and a coned wedge 63 movable axially of the sleeve and jaws into camming relation with the cam surfaces of the jaws so as to pivot the levers about their fulcrum points and force the crimping surfaces into compressive relation with the sides of the nut.
