Abstract

1336992 Wrenches T R COUGHTRIE 21 Dec 1970 [1 Jan 1970] 107/70 Heading B4W A wrench comprises a first handle 10 having a first jaw 11, a member 12 having a second jaw 13, a second handle 15 and a toggle link 16 which engages an abutment 17 which comprises a resilient member 19 which is compressed as the handle portions are moved together, the compression of the resilient member acting to limit the force which can be applied between the jaws. The abutment also consists of a part 20 in engagement with the toggle link 16; the engaging surfaces being shaped so as to wedge when the resilient member has been compressed a predetermined extent. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the resilient member is in direct engagement with one end of the toggle link which is shaped to wedge in the bore in the first handle when the resilient member has been compressed a predetermined extent.
