Abstract

1,042,403. Wrenches. J. L. DAVIES. June 10, 1963 [April 2, 1963], No. 13005/63. Heading B4W. A spanner or wrench comprises a shaft or handle having hinged at one or each end thereof an open-ended jaw 3 having channels or recesses 7 formed therein which are adapted to take over ribs provided on the outside of nuts. The head may be formed from steel strip pressed to shape. In a modification, Fig. 3, the shaft or handle is provided with an aperture 11 which is adapted to receive one end of an extension bar 12 the other end of which is located in one or other of two holes 14, 15 arranged at right angles to one another in a further jaw head 13. In another modification (not shown), the spanner head comprises a fixed jaw 16 and movable jaw 17 having channels or recesses to fit grooved nuts.
