Abstract

633,174. Chain rivet extractors and inserters. RISTOLA, A. J. Aug. 13, 1947, No. 22551. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 13, 1947.] [Class 61 (iii)] A tool for inserting and removing the rivets in bicycle and other chains comprises a handle 1, a head having a recess 2 in which the chain is supported, and a screw 6 reversible in the part 4 of the head and rotatable by a lever 10 having one end shaped as a spanner. One end of the screw 6 is cup-shaped at 9 and used for inserting rivets, the other end having a pin 7 for pressing them out of the chain. The parts 4 and 5 of the head are slotted to accommodate a rivet 8 and a removable guide piece 12 having a pin 15 at one end for centring the roller and link holes, the guide piece being pushed out of engagement with the chain as the rivet is guided through by rotation of the screw 6. The end of the handle 1 is shaped as a screw-driver.
