644,905. Wrenches and tongs. SANDSTROM, E. G. F. Jan. 30, 1948, No. 2773. Convention date, Jan. 31, 1947. [Classes 61(ii) and 61(iii)] A hand-tool such as tongs, grips or a wrench comprises a shank 10 which carries a rigid jaw 12 and has pivoted thereto at 16 a member 14 carrying a jaw 22 having limited swinging movement about a pivot pin 24. The jaw 22 having an oblong recess 28 is of inverted U-shape in section and straddles the end 36 of the member 14 which has a co-acting trefoil recess 30. A pin 26 extends transversely through the recesses 28, 30 and is movable in each arm of the trefoil-shaped recess to give a downward jaw locking, and two angular jaw adjustment positions. Spring washers 34 between the sides of the jaw 22 and caps 32 on the ends of the pin 26 ensure a friction engagement in the angular positions of the jaw.
