Abstract

217,839. Bladh, C. G. Nov. 8, 1923. Hand grip, sliding-jaw wrenches.-Relates to a pipe wrench having two levers 1, 5 and two jaws 2, 4 wherein the lever 5 is pivoted at 6 to the jaw 4 which is also pivoted to the lever 1 and consists in mounting the jaw 2 to slide in the lever 1. This sliding movement of the jaw 2 is effected by a nut 3 housed in the lever 1 and engaging the screwed stem 9 of the jaw. Movement of the jaw is limited by a slot 10 in the stem 9 engaging a stop 11 carried by the handle 1. A rounded end 8 of the lever 5 engages a similarly shaped recess 13 in the jaw 4, so that when the lever 5 turns on its pivot the jaw 4 is rotated in the opposite direction.
