Abstract

624,063. Curtain-rail supports. HARRISON (BIRMINGHAM), Ltd., and MURPHY, R. J. June 7, 1947, No. 15060. [Class 52 (v)] A rail supporting bracket comprising an attachment portion which is supported on a fixed structure and engages one side of the rail and a retaining member, which engages the other side of the rail in a gripping position when a fixing screw is inserted has a rectangular attachment portion formed with four holes so the bracket may be secured to.a horizontal or vertical surface, the retaining member moving to its gripping position in either case. The bracket member comprises a square attachment portion 10 with a part 11 terminating in a channel shaped section 13 and a second part 14 with a projection 16 extending through an opening 18 in the part 11. The attachment portion 10 is formed with four holes 20 for fixing screws and has grooves 19 at one corner of the square. The second member or slide 26 is bent to provide a slotted lower arm to engage the projection 16 and has an inclined end 35 to engage the rail while the upper arm 28 engages the grooves 19. When face-fixing is used a portion 27 of the slide abuts the fixed support and is urged into its gripping position as the bracket is screwed into position. When top fixing is used the screw is passed through a slot 34 in the slide and the sloping portion of the upper arm 28 is urged against'the attachment portion 10 and the slide is again moved to its gripping position.
