Abstract
623,698. Manually-actuated valves. FARR, E. May 14, 1947, No. 12985. [Class 135] In a valve for controlling the flow of fluids, particularly compressed air, a valve stem c is movable against a spring i or other resilient means and carries two valve elements h, o, a lift valve element h controlling communication between the supply and delivery connections l, m, and a flexible sleeve valve element o controlling communication between connection m and exhaust ports n, such that when the element h is open, the element o closes the ports n and vice versa. The element o is a flexible, cup-leather piston mounted on the stem c between nuts p, q. The stem slides on a rod f at its lower end, and in a bore b at its upper end, the portion protruding out of the bore carrying a pedal or foot-plate s.
