Abstract

637,803. Pressure-regulating valves. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. March 10, 1947, No. 6685. Convention date, March 15, 1946. Addition to 603,812. [Class 135] The control piston of the valve of the parent Specification is formed so that its end 12 is supported solely by the cylinder 1. The valve may be disposed between the suction pump and the air-driven gyroscope of an aircraft instrument and comprises a cylinder 1 open to the atmosphere through ports 13, and connected at one end 3 to the pump and closed at its other end by a hollow plug 4<SP>1</SP> having a stem 4 and connected to the instrument. The spring-loaded, control piston 8 supported at its ends 12, 9 by the cylinder 1 and the stem 4 respectively controls ports 7 in the stem upon change in the pressure difference on the two sides of the piston caused by variations in the pump suction. Thus, the suction to the instrument is maintained substantially constant.
