[Class 135] [Also in Group XXIV] The spindles 15, 19 of inlet and exhaust valves of hydraulic machines are interconnected by gearing 21, 22 or other interengaging members to be actuated simultaneously by a single lever 24 on one of the valves. A sliding rod 25 connected to the machine guard interlocks with a slot 27 in a boss 26 on one of the valves so that the machine cannot be operated until the guard is in its closed position and the guard cannot be opened whilst the machine is operating. The spindles 15, 19 have a slotted engagement with screwed members 13, 17 carrying valve members 7, 12 with a certain amount of lost-motion taken up by springs 16, 20. This ensures that either valve is fully closed before the other is opened. More than two valves may be interconnected when the fluid has to be controlled at different pressures or to different places on the machine. Other forms of interlock between the rod 25 and a rotatable boss or disc on one of the valves are described.
