622,155. Valves and valve-gear. COUSTOL, W. D. Feb. 10, 1947, No. 3844. [Class 7 (vi)] Separate valves 4, 5 sliding between the piston and cylinder are connected to the connecting-rod 9 to control inlet and exhaust ports 2, 3 in the cylinder wall. The valves form a two-part sleeve extending round the bore and having adjacent edges rebated or formed with staggered fine slots on their outer surfaces. They are moved through ball joints by arms 10 extending from the connecting rod, adjacent the gudgeon pin as shown, or from a point further down the connecting rod. Adjustment is provided.
