Abstract

621,370. Secateurs &c. LAWRENCE, G. F. Feb. 24, 1947, No. 5278. [Class 30] Secateurs, pruning-shears &c. of the draw-cut type comprise a pair of pivotally connected arms 1, 2, the former carrying a fixed blade 4 and the latter having a guideway 5 for a sliding blade 6, and a rocking lever 16 pivoted at 17 to the arm 2 and coupled to the blade 6 by a pin 18 sliding in a groove 19, or by a link, the lever having an extension 20 whereby it is coupled to the arm 1. The arm 2 is formed by bending a blank to form a U-shaped handle 7 and flat spaced faces 8, the guide 5 being formed by bending up one edge 10 of one face 8 and a parallel guide 11 formed by cuts 12. A flat metal spring 27 is fixed at 28 to the arm 2 and engages the rocking lever forcing the arms into the open position. A catch 30 is provided on the arm 1. In a modification, the parallel guide is formed by a separate plate fixed to the face 8 by screws.
